Safety Centre

Your safety is our highest priority. Here is everything we do to protect you — and what you can do to protect yourself.

How we keep you safe

Built-in protections active on every job, every transaction.

School email verification

Every student confirms a .edu or institutional email before their profile goes live. No exceptions.

Secure escrow payments

Powered by Stripe. Money is held safely and only released once the customer approves the completed work.

Reviews and ratings

Two-way review system after every completed job keeps both sides accountable.

Dispute resolution

Our team reviews every dispute with full access to messages, deliverables, and job history.

Content moderation

All job posts are reviewed for prohibited content before going live.

In-platform messaging

Keep all conversations inside Campus Tasker so there is always a clear record if anything goes wrong.

Emergency contacts

Students can register an emergency contact on their profile. In a safety incident we can reach someone who knows them.

No off-platform payments

We never ask anyone to send money via Venmo, cash, or bank transfer. Always pay through Campus Tasker.

Emergency contacts for students

When students sign up, they are invited to add an optional emergency contact — a parent, roommate, or friend. We only contact them in a genuine safety emergency when we are unable to reach the student. No spam, no marketing, no exceptions.

This is completely optional, but we strongly encourage it. In-person jobs involve meeting strangers, and having someone who knows where you are is simply good sense — whether or not you use Campus Tasker.

Tips for in-person meetings

Applies to both students and customers meeting face-to-face.

Meet in public first

For your first meeting, choose a visible public place — a university campus, coffee shop, or public library. Avoid private residences until a level of trust is established.

Tell someone where you are going

Let a friend, roommate, or family member know who you are meeting, where, and roughly how long you will be. This is the single most effective safety habit.

Register an emergency contact

Students can add an emergency contact name and number during sign-up or from their profile settings. If we are ever unable to reach you and something seems wrong, we can contact them.

Verify identity before starting work

Confirm the person matches their Campus Tasker profile photo and name. Ask for their full name if you are unsure. Legitimate users will not hesitate.

Keep records

Screenshot any instructions, agreements, or relevant messages before meeting. These are useful if a dispute arises later.

Trust your gut

If something feels wrong before, during, or after a meeting — leave. Your safety comes before the job or the payment. No amount of money is worth feeling unsafe.

Stay on the platform

Do not move communication to WhatsApp, personal email, or phone calls outside Campus Tasker. Conversations inside the platform are protected and can be reviewed by our team if needed.

Never pay or receive payment in cash

All payments go through our secure Stripe escrow. Anyone asking you to pay outside the platform is violating our rules — report them immediately.

For students specifically

Extra guidance for students doing in-person work for customers.

You never have to accept a job that makes you uncomfortable. Decline at any time with no penalty.

If a customer becomes aggressive, inappropriate, or threatening, end the interaction and report it from the job page immediately.

Do not share your home address. Use a nearby public landmark or your campus address for in-person meetings.

Carry your phone with you and make sure it is charged before any in-person job.

If you feel unsafe at any point during a job, leave. Your earnings will be protected — our team will review the situation.

Check the customer's profile and reviews before accepting. Customers with no reviews or very recent accounts deserve extra caution.

For customers specifically

Guidance for customers inviting students into their home or workspace.

Check the student's verified badge, reviews, and completed jobs before hiring.

Do not hand over access to your home, vehicle, or sensitive documents until you are comfortable with the student.

Use the Campus Tasker messaging system to communicate all job details so there is a record.

Release payment only after you have reviewed and are satisfied with the completed work.

If a student asks for any payment outside of Campus Tasker, do not pay and report it immediately.

For home-visit jobs, inform a neighbour or friend that someone will be coming over.
