Terms of Service

Last updated: April 2, 2026

By accessing or using Campus Tasker ("the Platform"), operated by Campus Tasker Inc. ("Company", "we", "us", "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Platform. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and the Company.

Important: These Terms contain a binding arbitration clause and class action waiver in Section 14. Please read them carefully.

1. Platform Role and Limitation of Liability

Campus Tasker is a technology marketplace platform that facilitates connections between customers seeking services and independent student service providers. Campus Tasker is not a party to any agreement, contract, or arrangement between a customer and a student.

We do not employ, supervise, direct, control, or manage any student or their work. We do not guarantee the quality, safety, legality, timeliness, or fitness of any services performed. We do not verify the accuracy of any user's claims, qualifications, credentials, or representations beyond basic email verification.

Campus Tasker provides the technology platform only. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Campus Tasker expressly disclaims all liability for any damages, losses, injuries, claims, or disputes arising from or related to the use of our Platform or any interaction, transaction, or communication between users, whether online or in person.

2. Eligibility

You must meet all of the following requirements to use the Platform:

  • You must be at least 18 years of age
  • You must have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement
  • You must not have been previously suspended or removed from the Platform
  • Student accounts require a valid .edu email address from an accredited institution
  • You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration

We reserve the right to refuse service, terminate accounts, or restrict access to the Platform at our sole discretion, without notice and without liability.

3. Independent Contractor Status

Students who use Campus Tasker are independent contractors, not employees of Campus Tasker or of any customer. Students control how, when, where, and whether they perform work. Nothing in these Terms creates an employment, partnership, joint venture, franchise, or agency relationship between Campus Tasker and any user.

Students are solely responsible for:

  • Complying with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, and regulations
  • Obtaining any required licenses, permits, certifications, or insurance for the services they offer
  • Their own health insurance, workers compensation, liability insurance, and benefits
  • Their own workplace safety, personal safety, and risk assessment when performing in-person work
  • The quality, accuracy, completeness, and legality of the services they provide
  • Any damage to property or injury to persons arising from their work

4. Tax Responsibility

Campus Tasker does not withhold, collect, report, or remit any taxes from payments made to students. Campus Tasker does not provide tax, legal, or financial advice and is not a tax agent for any user.

Students are solely and exclusively responsible for:

  • Reporting all earnings received through the Platform to the IRS and all applicable state, local, and foreign tax authorities
  • Paying all federal, state, and local income taxes, self-employment taxes (including Social Security and Medicare), and any other applicable taxes
  • Maintaining accurate and complete records of all income earned through the Platform
  • Filing all required tax returns and forms on time
  • Complying with all estimated tax payment requirements

If you earn $600 or more in a calendar year through Campus Tasker, you may receive a Form 1099-NEC. Regardless of whether you receive a 1099, you are required by law to report all income. We strongly recommend consulting a licensed tax professional.

5. Assumption of Risk

Users acknowledge and agree that in-person jobs and interactions with other users involve inherent risks, including but not limited to: physical injury, death, property damage, theft, fraud, harassment, assault, and interpersonal conflict. Campus Tasker does not guarantee the safety, identity, or conduct of any user and is not liable for any harm, loss, or damage that may occur during, before, or after any job or interaction.

By using the Platform, you voluntarily assume all risks associated with using the service and interacting with other users, both online and in person. Campus Tasker provides safety tools (email verification, in-app messaging, escrow, emergency contacts, reporting) as a courtesy and to promote safety, but these tools do not constitute a guarantee, warranty, or assurance of safety.

  • Facilitate academic dishonesty, cheating, or plagiarism
  • Post, share, or distribute adult, explicit, or obscene content

  • Discriminate against any user on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic
  • Circumvent, manipulate, or avoid the Platform's payment system or service fees
  • Solicit users to transact outside the Platform to avoid fees
  • Create fake, duplicate, or misleading accounts or profiles
  • Scrape, crawl, harvest, or collect user data or content without authorization

7. Payments, Fees, and Escrow

Customers pay an 8% service fee (minimum $2.50) on top of the agreed job price. This fee is non-refundable once a job is accepted or completed. Students receive 100% of their quoted amount with no deductions.

Payments are processed through Stripe and held in escrow until the customer confirms job completion or triggers a release. Campus Tasker is not a bank, financial institution, money transmitter, or escrow agent. Payment services are provided through third-party payment processors and are subject to their terms and conditions.

Refund Policy

Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis through our dispute resolution process. Campus Tasker reserves the right to issue, deny, or modify refund requests at its sole discretion.
